SEMAGLUTIDE
Semaglutide is a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists, which works by mimicking the action of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). Semaglutide helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release, slowing down digestion, and reducing appetite. Additionally, it may also promote weight loss.
BENEFITS
- • Blood sugar Control: Semaglutide helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release and reducing glucose production in the liver.
- • Weight Loss: It can promote weight loss in some individuals by reducing appetite and delaying gastric emptying.
- • Cardiovascular Health: Semaglutide has shown cardiovascular benefits, reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in people with type 2 diabetes.
- • Potential Renal Protection: Some studies suggest that semaglutide may have renal protective effects, reducing the risk of kidney disease progression in people with type 2 diabetes.
- • Convenience: It is administered once weekly as subcutaneous injection, offering convenience for patients compared to daily medications.
